Review: To go away to a strong XV like St Joseph’s and put in a performance of some class was indeed the highlight of the season to date. The XV played the best 50 minutes of the season and dominated in all areas of the field. The forwards took the opposition on and constantly made the gain line to put the pacey backs in good positions. St Jo’s had plenty of threat around the park, but we starved them of ball and scored some exceptional tries to in some ways surprise St Joseph’s. Malins M, Wood, Kingham, Malins W all crossed in the first half to leave the side in the enviable position of a 24 point lead. The second half saw Kingham pick up and charge over from the base of a scrum and put for a slight drop off in energy and a slight momentum shift in the last 15 minutes it could have been more emphatic. However, St Jo’s showed in the last 15 that they had been shell shocked by the intensity the XV hit the field with and proves that with a positive mind set and good basics the XV can compete with most XV’s. It was a day where the XV’s handing in difficult conditions excelled.
