Review: This
was a hard fought win in wet conditions. The XV played better than the score
suggests, but against a bigger heavier pack the side will be pleased to move
into Round 6 in the New Year. Mill Hill started strongly and had the best of
the forwards battle for 15 minutes, but after there efforts brought no rewards
due to a strong showing by the defence they seemed to lack the confidence of
earlier exchanges. Felsted started to dominate up front and put for some basic
handling errors and some interesting interpretations of the laws the score
board ticked rather than rattled over during the dominance of their play.
Kingham who is a stand out player every week again carried, tackled and led the
side with verve and vigour. It is not surprising that since his return from
injury the XV have not lost. It is just a shame he missed a season and a half
through knee and hand injuries. However, after being watched by the Felsted
coaching staff and parents for Saracens Storm v Cambridge University, he may
well have an exciting future in the game.
