U15 A v Robert Clack (Daily Mail Vase)

Result: Won 29-28
Tries: Jackson , Warner 2, Cox, Lumb
Cons: Lennon 2

Review: Felsted moved into the next round of the Daily Mail Vase after a close run victory away to Robert Clack. Felsted started strongly with the forwards wining good clean ball going forward allowing the backs to show their skills and pace. In the first 20 minutes Felsted dominated resulting in two tries by Stefan Warner and others by Alex Jackson and Matthew Lumb. The centres Alex Gilham and Matt Lumb were showing how dangerous as a pair they were, backed up by clever work by the half backs Jiffy Lennon and George Hitcock. With the pace of Stefan Warner and Alex Jackson all looked good. Two first up tackles were missed which allowed Robert Clack into the game allowing them to score break away tries. Ashleigh Cox went over in the corner just before half time to make the score 29-14.

The second half was a different game with desperate defence by Felsted restricting the opposition to just 2 tries. Felsted created 2 chances but did not take them. With greater pressure applied on the few times Felsted had the ball the backs had no space to show their superiority. Robert Clack’s last try was scored just before the whistle and then followed a tense 5 minutes! With Felsted holding out, due to applying great pressure and tackling. Alex Gilham was outstanding in this leading the way.

Man of the Match: Alex Gilham
