This
was again a game that showed the confidence of the XV. They will be slightly
annoyed that they didn’t finish the job off more ruthlessly when 36-0 up and 20
minutes to play, but a combination of taking the foot of the gas, playing a big
powerful XV, making a few substitutions and coping a few odd decisions, the XV
lost momentum. However, the sparkling performance of the first half will live
long in the memory. The ground was heavy, but from the moment William Malins
miskicked a chip and gathered it to send Hunter-J in the corner to Polknghorne’s
wonder run from kick off to cut through the defence and outpace the full back
to the try line the crowd witness some serious tries. The pacey Singleton given
space is dangerous and he proved that with excellent finishes. The growing
confidence and performances of Latham in the middle of the park has been a big
factor in the last 7 game unbeaten run and he continued again tackling hard and
running with power and pace. Wymondham found there feet in the last quarter,
but the game was gone long before.
